surrealistic esp

mars volta erschaffen wieder konzepte. wer hätte es gedacht, in form eines albums, welches den namen bedlam in goliath tragen wird. dieses wird angeblich neben neuen songs unter anderem kunst des surrealisten jeff jordan enthalten, die exemplarisch oben zu bewundern ist.

als vorraussichtlich neue single wurde dabei goliath ausgemacht, ein song, der wie das gesamte album in der tradition von omar rodriguez-lopez und cedric bixler-zavala, steht, deren liebstes hobby - im positiven sinne - das masturbieren auf die eigenen, musikalischen fertigkeiten zu sein scheint. tempiwechsel meets elegien meets history (at the drive in).

das album erscheint vorraussichtlich am 29. januar 2008, wird 11 songs enthalten, deren entstehungssprozess bixler-zavala im time off magazin wie folgt beschreibt: "We’re currently working on our fourth album, and we’re reverting to the narrative style for that one. I don’t want to give the plot away right now, but the new one has to do with this gift that Omar found for me when he went travelling once. The gift came with a story that was attached to it, and we’re trying to re-interpret the story again." damit spielt das album konzeptual in einer liga mit dem zweiten album der band, frances the mute, welches auf dem tagebuch des verstorbenens bandmitglieds jeremy ward basierte. abschließend folgendes zitat von jeff jordan: "What events led to the conception of centaurs, mermaids, and all those other hybrid critters?" genau.
